The experience
Overview
Nakupenda ("I love you" in Swahili) is a pure white sandbank that rises out of the ocean a short boat ride from Stone Town. At low tide it is one of the most photogenic spots in Zanzibar.
You snorkel on a nearby reef, then relax on the sand with fresh fruit, cold drinks and the whole horizon to yourself.
Highlights
- Boat ride along the Stone Town seafront
- Snorkeling on a shallow, easy reef — great for beginners
- White sandbank with crystal-clear water
- Fresh tropical fruit and drinks served on the sand
