Overview
Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park is the last indigenous forest in Zanzibar and home to the Kirk's red colobus — a monkey found nowhere else on Earth.
A park ranger walks with you through the forest and along a wooden boardwalk over the mangroves, explaining the plants, crabs and the conservation work protecting them.

Day plan
Departure
Transfer to Jozani
Comfortable drive to the park gate in central Zanzibar.
Hour 1
Forest walk
Ranger-led walk through the forest trails, tracking the colobus troops.
Hour 2
Mangrove boardwalk
Raised boardwalk over the mangroves — watch for crabs and mudskippers.
Hour 3
Return
Back to your hotel, or combine with a Spice Farm or Stone Town visit.
Good to know
Wear closed shoes and bring insect repellent. Mornings are cooler and the monkeys are most active.
